The Dragon Boat Festival, also known as Duanwu Festival, is one of the most significant traditional festivals in China. This act evolved into dragon boat races and the tradition of eating zongzi (sticky rice wrapped in bamboo leaves), which remains central to the festival today.

Dragon boat racing is perhaps the most iconic activity during the festival. Teams paddle long, narrow boats shaped like dragons through rivers and lakes, creating an exciting and colorful spectacle. The races symbolize unity, strength, and perseverance, reflecting the spirit of teamwork and determination that Qu Yuan embodied. Another important custom is the consumption of zongzi, a savory or sweet dish made of glutinous rice filled with various ingredients like meat, beans, or nuts. People also hang calamus and mugwort leaves at home to ward off evil spirits, while children wear colorful silk pouches filled with herbs for good luck.

In recent years, the Dragon Boat Festival has gained international recognition. It is now celebrated globally, with events held in places like Canada, Australia, and Europe. These celebrations help preserve cultural heritage and promote cross-cultural understanding.
